INSTALLING ACCESSORIES
Important Operator Note:
Before attaching/removing any hardware accessory (Magnetic Soundhead or Camera Modules) or loading/unloading film, ensure that EZ16 is powered OFF.
Mounting 5MP or 24MP Cameras
EZ16’s cameras are easy to install, simply place the camera module into the camera slot, match up the camera type with the appropriate label on EZ16, and turn the knob on the right of the camera to lock it in place.
Installing Magnetic Soundhead (Optional)
For many types of film, you may be required to use the Magnetic Soundhead accessory to capture audio. To install the Magnetic Soundhead accessory, unscrew the accessory port thumbscrew and remove cover plate. Next, plug Soundhead into EZ16, aligning the connector pins of the Soundhead with the socket on EZ16. Finally, re-insert and tighten thumbscrew.
LOADING FILM
Motor Calibration
Motors will calibrate automatically whenever EZ16 is powered on. This process takes 15 seconds to complete (platters will cease rotating). For best results, power off EZ16 before loading/unloading film, or before changing any accessories.
Loading Film
Follow these steps to load film on EZ16:
1. Load film onto spindle of left platter, perforations closest to platter surface. If the film is on a reel, replace archival core adapter with an appropriate reel adapter (sold separately).
2. Load empty archival core or reel on spindle of right platter.
3. Thread film around rollers and past Magnetic Soundhead (if installed) and tachometer, as shown below.
4. Attach lead end of film to empty archival core or reel on right platter.
5. Load top platters (optional), core spacers, and reel locks to ensure film does not drift while running.
